The route is an out-and-back trail, totaling 9.293 kilometers with an elevation gain of 646 meters, making it a difficult hike that will take approximately 3 hours and 45 minutes to complete.
As you begin your journey, you will come across Hoya Viciosa parking area, which marks the starting point of the trail. It's recommended to park your vehicle here before starting your hike. About 0.72 kilometers into the trail, you will find a water source for refilling your supplies, although there are several other water spots along the way.
Midway through the hike, at around 4.48 kilometers from the starting point, you will reach Degollada de las Arenas, a saddle point offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. From there, continue up to Montaña de las Arenas, a peak located approximately 4.65 kilometers from the start, providing a rewarding summit experience.
After descending from the peak, consider stopping at La Brega restaurant, located just 0.03 kilometers from the starting point, for some well-deserved refreshments. As you make your way back, you will also come across a wayside cross at 4.65 kilometers from the start, adding a touch of historical significance to your hike.
