This challenging hiking route takes you on a 8.5-kilometer circular journey through the stunning Hirschkogel area. The trail features an elevation gain of 457 meters, making it a difficult yet rewarding adventure for experienced hikers.

As you start your hike, you'll come across the picturesque Speicherbecken Gernkogel reservoir, located 2.92 kilometers from the trailhead. Further along the path, at 3.22 kilometers in, you'll reach the Geisterturm viewpoint, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

For a quick break and some sustenance, the Buchauhütte alpine hut is situated 2.64 kilometers into the hike, followed by the Gernkogelalm at 2.92 kilometers. Keep an eye out for the Obergaßalm at 1.29 kilometers, a perfect spot to rest and refuel.

As you continue your journey, you'll encounter the Gernkogelalm Salettl bar at 2.94 kilometers and the Kreistenalm restaurant at the beginning of the trail. Along the way, informational points provide insight into the area's history and natural features, enriching your hiking experience.

Don't forget to check the weather forecast before setting out and carry an ample supply of water, especially on hot days. Parking is available at the trailhead for your convenience.

At the 3.82-kilometer mark, you'll reach the Hirschkogel peak, offering a rewarding endpoint to your hike. Take in the stunning views before making your way back to the starting point, feeling accomplished and rejuvenated from this invigorating trek.
