This hiking route takes you through the scenic area surrounding Haystack Mountain. The trail is 9.607 kilometers long with an elevation gain of 271.0 meters, making it a difficult trek that will take approximately 2 hours and 54 minutes to complete.

You will start your journey at the parking area, which is conveniently located at the trailhead. Make sure to bring plenty of water and snacks for the hike as there are limited facilities along the way. It is also advisable to check the weather forecast before setting out.

As you make your way along the trail, you will come across several points of interest. About 1.27 kilometers from the start, you will reach Fallen Leaf Pond, a picturesque water feature perfect for a short rest stop. Further along, at the 2.81 kilometer mark, you will find a shelter where you can take a break and enjoy the surroundings.

At around 3.5 kilometers from the start, you will encounter the McKenzie/JackRabbit information point, where you can learn more about the area. Continuing on, at 4.79 kilometers, you will reach Haystack Mountain, a stunning peak with panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

Near the peak, there are two viewpoints at 4.8 kilometers - one on the trail and one off the trail, offering different perspectives of the scenery. Finally, at the end of the trail, you will return to the parking area where you began your adventure.
