This hiking route in the Špik area is an extremely difficult 8.797-kilometer out-and-back trail with an elevation gain of 1512 meters. The total duration of the hike is estimated to be around 5 hours and 48 minutes. It is important to note that this trail is challenging, so hikers should be well-prepared and in good physical condition.
The hike starts at a parking area located very close to the trail. As you begin your journey, you will come across an information point on tourism about 0.11 kilometers from the start. Along the way, at 0.2 kilometers from the start, you will find a historic wayside cross and a memorial for Vrsica Pass. These sites offer a glimpse into the history and culture of the area.
As you continue, you will reach Lipnica Peak at 4.18 kilometers from the start. Although not directly on the trail, it is worth the short detour to visit this natural peak. Further along the trail, at 1.6 kilometers from the start, you will encounter the beautiful waterfall called Slap Kačji graben, followed by a drinking water source located right on the trail.
Midway through the hike, at 1.6 kilometers from the start, there is another picturesque waterfall to enjoy. This natural beauty adds to the overall charm of the trail. Near the end of the hike, at 4.4 kilometers from the start, you will reach the prominent peak of Špik. This peak marks the turnaround point of the trail and offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding area.
