This hiking route will take you to the stunning area around Pointe de la Gorgeat in the French Alps. The circular route covers a distance of 6.3 kilometers with an elevation gain of 484 meters, making it a moderate difficulty hike suitable for intermediate hikers.
You will start your journey at the parking area near Le Grand Carroz. From there, you will follow the trail towards Pointe de la Gorgeat, where you can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding peaks. Along the way, you will pass by the Sources du Cozon, a beautiful spring where you can stop to rest and refill your water bottle.
As you continue on the trail, you will come across several drinking water stations, providing you with the opportunity to stay hydrated throughout your hike. Be sure to check the weather forecast before heading out and pack plenty of water and snacks to keep your energy levels up.
At around the midpoint of the hike, you will reach Col de la Drière, a scenic saddle offering breathtaking views of the valley below. From there, you can continue on to discover a captivating waterfall nestled in the mountain landscape.
As you make your way back towards the starting point, be sure to take in the spectacular viewpoints along the trail, including one with a clear vantage point of Pointe de la Gorgeat. The entire loop will take approximately 2 hours to complete, offering a rewarding and memorable hiking experience in the heart of the French Alps.
