This challenging hiking route will take you to the stunning Monte Merlo area. The trail is an out-and-back type, with a total distance of 11.694 kilometers and an elevation gain of 251 meters. The estimated duration for the hike is around 3 hours and 20 minutes.

As you start your journey, you will come across a parking area right at the beginning of the trail. Shortly after that, you will pass by a refreshing water source, just a few meters from the trail. It is advisable to fill up your water bottles here as there might not be any other water points along the way.

Around 3 kilometers into the hike, you'll find the Ristoro delle Fonti restaurant, where you can stop for a delicious meal and take a break. Continuing on, at approximately 5.85 kilometers from the start, you'll reach the peak of Monte Merlo, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding area.

It is important to note that there is a spring located around 30 meters from the trail, so you might need to detour a bit to access it for water. Therefore, it's recommended to carry enough water with you for the hike.

Given the length and elevation gain of the trail, this hike is considered difficult and suitable for experienced hikers. Make sure to wear proper hiking gear, bring enough water, and check the weather forecast before heading out.
