Welcome to the hiking route to Cascade au Moine!
This challenging out-and-back trail spans a distance of 12.52 kilometers with an elevation gain of 689 meters, making it extremely difficult but rewarding for experienced hikers. The estimated duration for this hike is 4 hours and 37 minutes, so be prepared for a full day of adventure.
The trail starts near Parking P2 and Rond-Point des Pistes, where you can leave your vehicle before embarking on the journey. Along the way, you'll pass by Le rond point des pistes, Le Bessard, Le slalom, Sancy crêpes, and other restaurants offering sustenance for hungry hikers. Make sure to pack enough water and snacks for the trek.
As you continue on the trail, you'll come across Office du Tourisme for any additional information you may need. Further down the path, at about 3.23 kilometers in, you'll encounter two impressive rock formations that are worth a stop for some photos.
Around the 6.26-kilometer mark, you'll reach the stunning Cascade au Moine waterfall, a perfect spot to rest and enjoy the breathtaking views. Continuing on, at 2.8 kilometers from the start, you'll pass by Puy de Champgourdeix, a beautiful volcano adding to the natural scenery of the hike.
Before heading back, take a moment to refuel at HoFlocon, a nearby restaurant, to recharge for the journey back. Keep in mind the distance and elevation gain for the return trip and plan accordingly.
