Welcome to the hiking route to Šijak peak! Located in the beautiful area of Cerkno, this challenging route offers stunning panoramic views and a chance to connect with nature.

Starting at the trailhead, you'll find convenient parking areas nearby. If you need any last-minute supplies or information, there is a restaurant called Jušk just a short distance away from the start. As you begin your hike, you'll pass by a fountain and a bench where you can take a quick break and enjoy the surroundings.

Further along the trail, you'll come across Bar Pr'Albinc, a cozy bar where you can grab a refreshment before continuing on. Make sure to stay hydrated and pack enough water for the journey, especially as you start to gain elevation.

As you approach the midway point, you'll reach Vrata peak, offering a breathtaking view of the landscape below. From there, the trail becomes more challenging as you make your way towards Šijak peak. The final stretch may be steep, but the sense of accomplishment at the summit is worth it.

On your descent, take your time to enjoy the scenery and keep an eye out for landmarks like Lanišče peak. Before heading back to the trailhead, you can visit Bar Pr Gabrijelu for a well-deserved treat.

This 11.654-kilometer out-and-back route with an elevation gain of 616 meters is rated as difficult, so make sure to be prepared with proper hiking gear and check the weather forecast beforehand.
