This extremely difficult hiking route covers a distance of approximately 23.87 kilometers with an elevation gain of 2157 meters. The duration of this challenging hike is estimated to be around 10 hours and 55 minutes.
The route starts at the parking area and follows a path that will take you through breathtaking alpine scenery. Along the way, you will come across several points of interest. At the beginning of your journey, you will encounter Aljažev dom v Vratih, an alpine hut where you can rest and refuel. Further along the trail, you will find Šlajmerjev dom v Vratih, another alpine hut offering accommodation services.
As you continue on the trail, you will pass by Bivak pod Luknjo, a shelter, and the ruins of Triglavska gorska vojašnica Viktorja Emanuela III. and Stražarnica vojašnice Viktorja Emanuela III., providing a glimpse into the area's historic past. Make sure to visit Planinski dom Napoleone Cozzi, Gemona, and Nekdanja vojašnica Gemona Superiore, which are all historic ruins located along the way.
