This hiking route to Sonnenjoch is located in a beautiful area with stunning views. The trail is an out-and-back type, totaling 13.189 kilometers with an elevation gain of 1002 meters, making it an extremely difficult hike that will take approximately 5 hours and 33 minutes to complete.
Starting at the parking area, you will begin your journey towards Sonnenjoch. Along the way, you will pass by several points of interest. At 2.08 kilometers from the start, you will find a natural water source. Further along, at 3.07 kilometers, you will reach Heutaljoch, a natural saddle. Continuing on, at 4.08 kilometers, you will come across more water sources before reaching Otto-Leixl-Hütte at 5.28 kilometers. This alpine hut is a great spot to rest and take in the surroundings.
As you venture towards Sonnenjoch, at 5.25 kilometers, you will encounter a historic memorial followed by a drinking water point at 5.28 kilometers. The trail then leads you to Sonnenjoch at 6.59 kilometers, a natural peak offering breathtaking panoramic views of the area.
