Located in the stunning alpine region, this challenging hiking route leads to the Otto-Leixl-Hütte, a quaint alpine hut nestled in the mountains. The trail spans approximately 10.9 kilometers round trip, with an elevation gain of 676 meters, making it a difficult but rewarding trek for experienced hikers.
Starting at the parking area, hikers will traverse through picturesque landscapes, passing by several water sources along the trail. At around 2 kilometers into the hike, you will encounter a water spot, perfect for refilling your water bottle. Further along the path, at the 3.8-kilometer mark, another water source awaits, providing a refreshing break for hikers.
As you make your way up the trail, you will reach the Heutaljoch saddle at the 3.1-kilometer point, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. Around the midway point of the hike, at 5.25 kilometers, a historic memorial stands as a testament to the area's rich heritage.
Continuing on, hikers will pass by a drinking water station at the 5.43-kilometer mark, providing a convenient spot to hydrate. Just a bit further, at 5.32 kilometers, an information point offers insights into the local flora and fauna.
Finally, after a challenging ascent, you will reach the Otto-Leixl-Hütte at the turnaround point of the hike. Take in the spectacular panoramic views as you rest and refuel at the alpine hut before making your way back along the same trail.
