This hiking route takes you through the beautiful area surrounding Burciano di Sotto. The route is a circular trail with a total distance of approximately 16.5 kilometers and an elevation gain of 503 meters, making it extremely difficult and challenging.
As you start your hike, you will come across the Basilica di Santa Margherita, a historic attraction located just 0.78 kilometers from the trail. Continuing on, you will pass by Piazzale Santa Margherita, a parking area, and the memorial dedicated to Giuseppe Garibaldi, both situated close to the trail.
Along the way, you will encounter several viewpoints offering picturesque scenery of the surrounding landscape. Be sure to stop at these spots to take in the breathtaking views. As you reach the midway point of the trail, you can rest and refuel at Ristorante Tonino or La loggetta, both conveniently located near the trail.
For those interested in history, a visit to Fortezza del Girifalco, a historic castle, is a must-see. Additionally, there are several drinking water fountains and cafes along the trail where you can replenish your water supply and grab a quick snack.
Towards the end of the trail, you will come across several wayside shrines and restaurants, including Beerbone and Bottega Baracchi, where you can relax and enjoy a meal before completing your hike.
Before embarking on this challenging hike, make sure to bring plenty of water, wear sturdy hiking shoes, and check the weather forecast. This hike is not recommended for beginners due to its length and elevation gain, so be prepared for a strenuous but rewarding adventure in the beautiful surroundings of Burciano di Sotto.
