Located in the scenic mountains, the hike to Galinakopf is a challenging 20-kilometer out-and-back route with an elevation gain of 1178 meters, taking approximately 7 hours and 35 minutes to complete. This extremely difficult trail offers breathtaking views and several points of interest along the way.
Starting at Wanderparkplatz Alpe Gamp, hikers will first come across an informative stop at 0 kilometers and a wayside cross at 3.45 kilometers from the start. As you continue, you'll find benches at 3.23 and 3.45 kilometers for a quick rest before reaching Berghaus Mattajoch, a restaurant located 3.49 kilometers from the start, where you can refuel with some delicious food.
Further along the trail at 4.28 kilometers, you'll encounter Schwarzer Brunnen, a natural spring just a short distance off the path. A wayside shrine is also located at 4.82 kilometers for those interested in the history of the area.
