Welcome to the Matallana hiking route, a challenging 8.579-kilometer circular trail that offers stunning views and exciting points of interest along the way.
Starting at the trailhead, you'll first come across a convenient parking area where you can leave your vehicle before starting your adventure. Be sure to bring plenty of water and snacks for the journey, as this route is rated as difficult due to its length and 191 meters of elevation gain.
As you make your way along the trail, you'll pass by the refreshing Peresa del Batán water feature at around 3.75 kilometers in. Take a moment to rest and enjoy the peaceful surroundings before continuing on.
Around 2.17 kilometers into the hike, you'll find the Fuente de la Barrera drinking water source to replenish your supplies. This is a great spot to rehydrate and take a break before tackling the next section of the trail.
Further along the route, at approximately 4.19 kilometers, you'll have the opportunity to explore the Chorrera de Rovellanos waterfall. While it's a bit off the main trail, the detour is well worth it for the spectacular views and photo opportunities.
At various points around the 4.19-kilometer mark, you'll also encounter several other waterfalls, including ones like the Fuente la Borriqueña spring, offering a chance to marvel at the natural beauty of the area.
As you near the end of the hike, you'll pass by the peak of Matallana, providing a breathtaking vantage point to take in the surrounding landscape before making your way back to the starting point.
