This hiking route will take you through the beautiful area surrounding Rehbrunnel. The circular route has a total distance of 6.882 kilometers and an elevation gain of 357 meters, making it a moderate difficulty hike. It is recommended to bring plenty of water, wear appropriate hiking shoes, and check the weather forecast before setting out.
You will start your hike at Parking Randonneurs, where you can safely leave your vehicle before embarking on the trail. The first point of interest along the route is Place des Canaris, located just 1 kilometer from the starting point. This is a great spot to learn about the area and take in the surrounding scenery.
As you continue on, you will come across various other points of interest such as Abri du Rehbrunnel, a shelter located 3 kilometers into the hike, and Col du Grumbach, a saddle located 1 kilometer from the shelter. These locations offer great opportunities to rest, enjoy a picnic at one of the picnic sites, and appreciate the viewpoints and natural beauty of the area.
Further along the trail, you will encounter landmarks like Erzenbackopf peak, Monument Berthold from April 13, 1945, and Grumbachkopf peak, each offering unique perspectives and experiences. You can also visit the Fontaine Rehbrenla spring and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere at the wayside shrine.
The endpoint of the hike is back at Rehbrunnel, completing the circular route. This picturesque area is the perfect place to reflect on the journey and take in the stunning surroundings before heading back to the starting point. Remember to pack out any trash and leave no trace to help preserve this beautiful hiking destination.
