This hiking route takes you through the picturesque area surrounding the Roßberghütte. The trail is a circular route with a total distance of 7.4 kilometers and an elevation gain of 109 meters, making it a difficult hike that will take around 2 hours to complete.
As you set off on the trail, you will pass by a parking area at the beginning. About 3.6 kilometers into the hike, you will reach the Roßberghütte viewpoint, where you can take in stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Continuing on, at the 1.91 kilometer mark, you will come across Seegrube, a beautiful water feature.
Along the way, you will also encounter Südthüringens schönste Aussichten, a lovely bench where you can take a break and enjoy the scenery. For those interested in history, there are several memorials to visit, including the Kriegerdenkmal (1866), Erbbegräbnis von Wechmar, and Gefallendenkmal (2. WK).
Before or after your hike, you can stop by the Alte Bäckerei restaurant, located about 0.06 kilometers from the trail, to refuel and relax.
