Welcome to the La Roda hiking route, a challenging 12.045-kilometer out-and-back trail with an elevation gain of 1309 meters, making it extremely difficult but rewarding for experienced hikers.
The trail starts at the parking lot near Casale and immediately sets you on your way with informative signs to guide you. As you begin your journey, you will pass by the wayside shrine of Sant'Antonio, adding a touch of historic charm to your hike at 2.97 kilometers from the start.
Around the midway point, at 5.94 kilometers, you'll come across a convenient bench to take a break and soak in the surrounding natural beauty. Be sure to stay hydrated along the way, with drinking water available at Acqua de Val at 1.85 kilometers and Acqua della Mesa at 5.47 kilometers.
As you push further towards your destination, climb up to La Roda peak at 6.02 kilometers, where you can enjoy a stunning viewpoint overlooking the landscape. Don't forget to refuel and rest at the peak before making your way back.
Keep an eye out for the Fontana drinking water point at 1.51 kilometers, although slightly off the trail, it provides a refreshing pit stop for replenishing your water supply.
