This hiking route takes you through the beautiful area of Strada romana / Rimska cesta in Trieste. The trail is an out-and-back type, covering a distance of 3.284 kilometers with an elevation gain of 185 meters, making it an easy difficulty hike suitable for all skill levels.
As you start your journey, you will come across various points of interest along the way. Approximately 1.22 kilometers from the start, you will reach Valico di Monte Spaccato, a saddle offering stunning views. Further along at 1.18 kilometers, there is a viewpoint where you can stop and admire the scenery.
Midway through the hike, you will find Grotta dei Morti, a cave entrance located 0.68 kilometers from the trail. As you continue, there are information points, drinking water stations, and picnic sites conveniently placed along the trail for hikers to rest and refuel.
Towards the end of the route, at around 1.64 kilometers from the start, you will encounter various cave entrances such as Grotta sul Monte Calvo and Caverna sul Monte Spaccato. These natural formations add an element of intrigue to the hike.
