The H.G. Leach Trail is a challenging 9.772-kilometer out-and-back hiking route that offers stunning views and a good workout. The trail starts at the Roaring Brook Parking Area, where you can leave your vehicle before embarking on your journey. Along the way, you'll pass by several points of interest, including the Round Mountain Trail-Register and the AMR Trail-Register, which provide valuable information about the area and its surroundings.
As you continue on the trail, you'll come across the EastRiver/Crossover and Lake/Crossover points, which are located approximately 2.53 kilometers from the start. These locations offer a peaceful setting for a quick rest and a snack before pushing forward. Around the 4.89-kilometer mark, you'll reach a viewpoint at a spot known as Cathedral Rocks, which offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the surrounding landscape.
The trail eventually leads you to the turnaround point, where you can either rest and enjoy the scenery before heading back or continue on to explore further. With an elevation gain of 527 meters, this hike is considered difficult and is best suited for experienced hikers. Be sure to bring plenty of water, snacks, and proper hiking gear.
