This challenging hike in the area of Canal de la Viña offers a total distance of 15.901 kilometers with an elevation gain of 1064 meters, making it extremely difficult but rewarding for experienced hikers. It is an out-and-back route, meaning you will retrace your steps on the way back.
As you start your journey, you will come across the "Refugio Domingo Fernando" shelter at 0.27 kilometers from the trailhead, providing a potential resting spot early on. Further along the trail, approximately 7.34 kilometers from the start, you will reach the "peak" with an elevation of 335 meters, offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
Midway through the hike at 7.54 kilometers from the start, you will reach "Puerto del Llano," a saddle point where you can pause and soak in the beauty of the natural surroundings. Additionally, at 5.23 kilometers from the start, you will find "Fuente de los Herveros," a spring where you can refill your water supply.
Towards the end of the trail, around 7.7 kilometers from the start, you will encounter "Peñon del Mediodía," another peak with breathtaking views waiting to be enjoyed. On your way back, make sure to stop by the various springs like "Fuente del Tío Feolo" at 4.82 kilometers from the start for a refreshing break.
