This extremely difficult 15.3 km out-and-back hiking route will lead you to the stunning Mont Clapier in the Mercantour-Argentera region. The trail offers a challenging experience with an elevation gain of 1319 meters, promising breathtaking views and exciting encounters along the way.
Starting at the trailhead, you will first come across the Murs des Italiens, an archaeological site just 2.33 km into the hike. Further along, at 4.69 km, you will reach Lac de la Fous followed by Lacs du Mont Clapier at 6.3 km. These picturesque lakes provide a perfect spot to rest and refuel before continuing your journey.
At the 4.84 km mark, you will encounter the Refuge de Nice, an alpine hut where you can take a break and enjoy some amenities before pushing yourself further towards the summit.
