This challenging hiking route in Astabizkar covers a distance of 10.22 kilometers with an elevation gain of 414 meters, taking approximately 3 hours and 24 minutes to complete. The trail starts at the parking area and follows a scenic path with various points of interest along the way.
At the beginning of the hike, you will come across the Zaguako etxola shelter, a great spot to take a break and enjoy the surroundings. Further along the trail, about 2.64 kilometers from the start, you'll find the Cromlechs Otarra Bizkarra archaeological site, adding a touch of history to your journey.
As you continue, at around 3.61 kilometers from the start, you'll encounter the Cromlechs Buztanberro site, followed by the Dolmen Uztanborro and Túmulo Buztanberro 1 archaeological sites. These sites offer a glimpse into the region's ancient past and are worth exploring.
Midway through the hike, at approximately 4.7 kilometers from the start, you'll reach the Oialegiko lepoa saddle, providing a stunning viewpoint of the surroundings. Nearby, you'll also find the Cromlech Iparraldeko Kaskoa peak and the Artsalgo Gaina peak. Although slightly off the trail, these natural landmarks are worth the extra distance for their panoramic views.
As you approach the turnaround point of the hike, located at around 5.11 kilometers from the start, you'll reach the Astabizkar peak, offering a rewarding experience for your efforts. Along the way, make sure to stop by the spring at 3.91 kilometers from the start for a refreshing break.
