Welcome to the Tønsberg Slottsfjellet hiking route! This super easy out-and-back trail offers a pleasant hike with a total distance of 0.679 kilometers and no elevation gain. The area is known for its historic ruins and attractions, making it a delightful destination for a leisurely walk.
As you begin your journey, you will come across several points of interest along the trail. Starting at the trailhead, you will find a parking area where you can leave your vehicle before embarking on the hike. Approximately 0.06 kilometers into the hike, there is a picnic site where you can take a break and enjoy a snack surrounded by nature.
Further along the trail at around 0.17 kilometers, you will encounter the ruins of Teglkastellet, providing a glimpse into the area's rich history. Continuing on, you will pass by Mikaelskirken and Bredestuen, both offering unique insights into the past with their historic architecture.
At the midway point of the hike, approximately 0.32 kilometers from the start, you will find the ruins of an old castle, Tunsberghus, adding to the historical charm of the route. Nearby, you can also visit Slottsfjelltårnet, a tower offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
As you reach the end of the trail, at around 0.34 kilometers from the start, you will come across a free flying site for paragliding enthusiasts, known as Tønsberg Slottsfjellet. Please note that this site is not currently in use, but its presence adds a sense of adventure to the hike.
