Hiking : Pic de Cimet

This challenging hiking route will take you to the stunning Pic de Cimet in the beautiful area of Haute-Ariege. The trail is an out-and-back route with a total distance of 8.956 kilometers and an elevation gain of 982 meters, making it a difficult but rewarding hike.

Starting from the trailhead, you will first come across a parking area, which is conveniently located at the beginning of the route. As you continue along the trail, at around 1.36 kilometers from the start, you will find Cabane de La Coume, a shelter where you can take a break and enjoy the scenic views.

Around 2.81 kilometers from the start, you will encounter the ruins of Cabane d'En Sur, adding a touch of history to your hike. Further along the trail, at a distance of 3.37 kilometers from the start, you will reach Col des Clotes ou d’en Sur, a saddle where you can take in panoramic views of the surrounding area.

The highlight of the hike is reaching Pic de Cimet, located at 4.48 kilometers from the start. This peak offers breathtaking views and is a great spot to take some photos and soak in the natural beauty of the area.

It is important to note that there is a non-guarded shelter, Orri de Cizarols, located 0.45 kilometers off the trail, which you can visit if you need a place to rest.

As this is a challenging hike with almost 5 hours of estimated duration, it is recommended to bring plenty of water, snacks, and proper hiking gear. Additionally, be sure to check the weather forecast before embarking on this adventure to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
