This hiking route takes you on a challenging journey through the stunning natural landscapes surrounding Refuge de Manganu. The area is known for its rugged terrain, crystal-clear lakes, and breathtaking mountain peaks.
Starting at Refuge de Manganu, you will first pass by Lac de Melo, a beautiful mountain lake located 2.2 kilometers from the trailhead. The trail then continues towards Lac de Capitello, another picturesque lake sitting 3.25 kilometers away from the starting point.
Along the way, you will encounter various points of interest such as Bocca alle Porte, a scenic saddle point located 4.6 kilometers into the hike, and Brèche de Capitello, another saddle point located 3.91 kilometers from the start. You will also come across Bergerie de Grotelle and Bergerie de Melo, cozy mountain huts where you can take a rest and enjoy some refreshments.
As you continue your journey, you will pass by Pointe des Sept Lacs and Punta Alle Porte, two majestic peaks offering stunning panoramic views of the surroundings. You will also come across a refreshing waterfall located 1.1 kilometers into the hike, providing a perfect spot to cool off and take in the beauty of the area.
Throughout the hike, you will have access to several springs and drinking water sources, ensuring you stay hydrated during this demanding trek. It is recommended to bring plenty of water, snacks, and proper hiking gear for this extremely difficult 15.429-kilometer route with 1366 meters of elevation gain.
