This extremely difficult 12.336-kilometer out-and-back hiking route in the Bucșoiu area offers stunning views and challenging terrain for experienced hikers. The trail starts at a parking area and shortly after, you will come across the Cantonul Colții Morarului shelter, a great resting spot around 2.38 kilometers into the hike.
As you continue, at around 2.39 kilometers in, you'll encounter the refreshing izvor Morar spring. The trail then leads you to the Bucșoiu peak at 6.17 kilometers, where you can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Make sure to visit the Memorial Petre Petrescu located nearby at the beginning of the trail.
Although not directly on the path, the Peștera Bucșoiului cave entrance is worth a visit at the same location as the peak. Additionally, be sure to take in the gorgeous views from the Țimbalul and Țimbal viewpoints at 4.14 kilometers into the route.
With an elevation gain of 1454 meters, this hike is not for the faint of heart. Remember to bring plenty of water, snacks, and proper hiking gear. It is also advisable to check the weather forecast before embarking on this challenging journey.
