This extremely difficult hiking route will take you on a challenging 17.969-kilometer journey with an elevation gain of 1617 meters.

Starting at the parking area, you will begin your hike towards the Le Marteau peak. Along the way, you will pass by the Refuge de Platé alpine hut, located 4.82 kilometers from the start, offering a nice resting spot for hikers. As you continue on, you will encounter the Brèche du Dérochoir and Le Marteau peaks, both around 8-9 kilometers from the start, providing stunning panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes.

One of the highlights of the hike is the Col de la Portette, a saddle located at the 6.09-kilometer mark, offering a unique vantage point for taking in the picturesque scenery. Additionally, make sure to stop by the viewpoint at 4.36 kilometers to enjoy the breathtaking views of the area.

As you make your way back, you can take a break at the Passage du Dérochoir, located at the 7.93-kilometer mark, and learn more about the area at the information points along the trail.
