This challenging out-and-back hiking route will take you to the picturesque Sterzersee area. The trail spans a distance of 9.353 kilometers with an elevation gain of 802 meters, making it a difficult yet rewarding trek that will take approximately 4 hours and 10 minutes to complete.
As you begin your journey, you will pass by Sonnenfluh parking area, where you can leave your vehicle before hitting the trail. Along the way, you will encounter various points of interest such as Zollhütte shelter, Koblat-Pass saddle, Koblach-Hütte, and Grenzstein 147. These landmarks provide insight into the area's history and natural beauty.
At around 4.11 kilometers into the hike, you will reach Koblat peak, offering spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Further along the trail, you will come across a wayside cross at 3.21 kilometers and the ruins of Gehrner Berg at 1.53 kilometers.
Midway through the hike, you will find informational points such as Koblat information site, providing valuable insights into the local flora, fauna, and geography. As you near the end of the trail, you will pass by Hüttenkopf peak at 2.83 kilometers, before reaching the serene Sterzersee for a well-deserved rest.
