This hiking route takes you through the beautiful area around Sponds Hill. The trail is 6.079 kilometers long with an elevation gain of 181 meters, making it of moderate difficulty. It is an out-and-back route, meaning you will retrace your steps once you reach the end.
As you begin your hike, you will pass by Mill Pond, a serene water feature just 176 meters from the trail. Further along, at about 1.1 kilometers into the hike, you will find Lyme Hall, a historic attraction dating back to the 16th century. You can learn more about its history on their website.
About a quarter of the way into the hike, you will come across Reflection Lake, another picturesque water spot located 81 meters from the trail. As you continue on, at around 1.82 kilometers, you will reach The Bowstones, a set of wayside crosses with historical significance. Towards the end of the hike, at about 3.04 kilometers, you will reach the peak of Sponds Hill. From here, you can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding area. Additionally, there are benches along the trail at 2.48 kilometers where you can take a break and soak in the scenery.
