Welcome to the Pizzo Alto hiking route! This trail offers a challenging 11.2 km trek with an elevation gain of 1463 meters, making it extremely difficult but rewarding for experienced hikers. The estimated duration for this route is 6 hours and 15 minutes.
The trail starts at the Pizzo Alto parking area, where you can safely leave your vehicle. As you begin your journey, you will pass by the Cappella di Premaniga, a historic wayside shrine located 2.29 km from the start. Further along the trail, at 2.49 km, you will find the Ristoro Alpe Premaniga, a great spot to rest and refuel before continuing your ascent.
Midway through the hike, at 5.41 km, you will reach the Porta di Pizzo Alto, a scenic saddle offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. Don't forget to check out the information points along the way, such as Val Fraina and Püzz da Morosèe, to learn more about the area.
As you push towards the summit, you will encounter several drinking water points to stay hydrated, like the Fontanìin de Saš Müs'c at 4.43 km and Pozzàl de la Fòpe at 1.94 km. The Giargiööl dal Piüdèer wayside shrine at 1.22 km and the Sprišol waterfall at 0.07 km are also worth exploring on your journey.
Upon reaching the peak of Pizzo Alto at 5.53 km, you will be rewarded with panoramic views that make the challenging hike worth it. Take a moment to soak in the beauty of the surroundings before making your way back down.
