This extremely difficult 14.006-kilometer out-and-back hiking route in the Altenberg area offers a challenging adventure for experienced hikers. The trail features a total elevation gain of 967.0 meters and is estimated to take around 5 hours and 39 minutes to complete.

Starting at the parking area, hikers will begin their journey towards the Altenberg destination. Along the way, you will come across various points of interest. At the beginning of the trail, you will find the Hirschwäng-Alm wilderness hut, a perfect spot to rest and enjoy the surrounding nature. As you continue, you will reach a boundary stone that marks a significant point along the trail.

Midway through the hike, you will encounter the Kreuzkopf peak, offering stunning panoramic views of the area. Further ahead, you will pass by Kuhkarjoch saddle, and a refreshing water feature, perfect for refilling your water bottles.

As you approach the endpoint, the Altenberg peak will be in sight, providing a rewarding accomplishment for hikers. Additionally, a picturesque waterfall and a scenic viewpoint named Aussicht await you near the end of the trail.
