This challenging hike to Tête du Midi offers stunning views and a variety of interesting points of interest along the way. Starting at the parking area, hikers will embark on a 11.6-kilometer out-and-back route with an elevation gain of 320 meters.
At the beginning of the trail, you will pass by Étang des Fenesses, a picturesque water feature located just 0.53 kilometers from the start. As you continue, you'll reach Col du Ménil, a scenic saddle point that is also 0.53 kilometers from the start.
Around the 1.98-kilometer mark, you'll find Chalet des Baigneux, a wilderness hut where you can take a break and enjoy the surroundings. Further along the trail, at 3.6 kilometers from the start, you'll encounter Tête du Canard, a peak with breathtaking panoramic views.
Midway through the hike, at 5.79 kilometers from the start, you'll reach Tête du Midi, the main destination of the route. From this peak, you'll be rewarded with sweeping vistas of the surrounding wilderness.
Throughout the hike, there are facilities such as shelters and a restaurant, Auberge du Tilleul, where you can rest and refuel. Remember to bring plenty of water, wear sturdy hiking shoes, and check the weather forecast before setting out on this difficult but rewarding adventure.
