This hiking route is located in a beautiful mountainous area with stunning views and challenging terrain. The trail is a circular route with a total distance of 13.47 kilometers and an elevation gain of 1424 meters, making it extremely difficult and suitable for experienced hikers.
Starting at the parking area in Saboyer, the trail begins with a gentle ascent through La Hétraie Sapinière, where you can learn about the local flora and fauna at an information point. As you continue, you will pass by the Fontaine des Vautes, a natural spring perfect for refilling your water bottle.
Midway through the hike, you will reach the Lac du Lauzon, a picturesque mountain lake perfect for a rest stop and a snack. From there, the trail leads to the Source du Lauzon, another spring where you can enjoy the fresh mountain water.
As you make your way towards the highest point of the hike, the Rocher rond peak, you will pass by several other points of interest such as Tête de Plate Longue and Tête des Vautes peaks, each offering breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
The trail also includes a visit to the Col de Charnier, a scenic saddle where you can take in the beauty of the mountains from a different perspective. Finally, you will return to the starting point at Saboyer, completing the challenging but rewarding hike.
