Welcome to the hiking route to Monte Federici! This challenging out-and-back trail spans approximately 9.5 kilometers with an elevation gain of 881 meters, making it a difficult yet rewarding adventure for hikers.
The trail starts at a convenient parking area, located right at the beginning of the route. As you make your way along the path, you will come across informative waypoints, providing insights into the natural and historical landmarks of the area. You'll encounter the Maestà Sant'Antonio di Sopra wayside shrine, adding a touch of historic charm to your journey.
Midway through the hike, you'll reach Passo Alarola, a picturesque saddle offering stunning panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Continuing on, you'll pass by the peaks of Monte Alarola and Montino, each providing a different vantage point of the rugged terrain.
As you approach the endpoint of the trail, located at Monte Federici, you'll be greeted with breathtaking vistas and a sense of accomplishment. Although there's a wilderness hut, Bivacco Oriente (Matale), towards the end of the trail, make sure to carry enough water and snacks for the journey.
