This challenging out-and-back hiking route will lead you to the beautiful Monte del Sangiatto in a picturesque area. The hike covers a distance of 9.1 kilometers with an elevation gain of 807 meters, taking approximately 4 hours and 7 minutes to complete.
As you start your journey, you will come across the Posteggio Cologno parking area, located right at the beginning of the trail. Make sure to park your vehicle here before embarking on the hike. Along the way, you will encounter informational points at distances of 2.9 and 3.9 kilometers from the start, providing interesting insights about the surroundings.
As you continue hiking, you will reach the stunning Lago del Sangiatto superiore, located 2.72 kilometers from the beginning of the trail. Take a moment to admire the tranquil waters of the lake before proceeding towards the peak. The Bocchetta di Scarpia saddle, situated at 3.9 kilometers into the hike, offers a great vantage point to rest and take in the panoramic views.
Finally, at the peak of Monte del Sangiatto, which is 4.55 kilometers from the start, you will be rewarded with breathtaking vistas of the surrounding landscape. Take some time to relax and refuel before heading back the way you came.
