This hiking route will take you through the breathtaking area of Portellino di Val Porsig / Porcile. Starting at an elevation of 1768 meters, you will begin your journey from Piazzale Lozze parking area.
As you embark on this out-and-back trail, you will pass by several points of interest. The first landmark you will encounter is Targa d'entrata, a historic memorial, located right at the start of the trail. As you continue further, you will come across Chiesetta degli alpini and Ossario, two more historic memorials that add to the cultural richness of the area.
After a short distance, you will reach Monte Ortigara, a natural peak offering stunning panoramic views. Nearby is Baito Ortigara shelter, where you can take a break and soak in the serene surroundings. Continuing onwards, you will reach Monte Lozze, another peak with remarkable views.
Further along the trail, you will find Madonnina del Lozze, a historic memorial, and Campana ai Caduti and Colonna Mozza - Cippo Italiano, two more memorials honoring the fallen. As you approach Portellino di Val Porcile, a natural saddle, you will be treated to even more breathtaking vistas.
For those seeking a more challenging hike, you can venture to Cima del Prà, Monte Fasolo, and Monte Castelnovo (Cima Dieci), all natural peaks that offer a rewarding climb. Along the way, don't forget to visit Rifugio Cecchin, an alpine hut where you can rest and refuel.
Throughout the hike, be sure to stay hydrated and bring plenty of water, as the trail covers a distance of 8.733 kilometers and includes an elevation gain of 344 meters. It is also advisable to check the weather forecast before setting out on this adventure.
