This extremely difficult hiking route will take you on an exciting out-and-back journey to the majestic Fundusfeiler peak. The trail spans a distance of 16.529 kilometers with a challenging elevation gain of 1864 meters, making it a demanding yet rewarding trek for experienced hikers.
Starting at the trailhead, you will come across the Frischmannhütte alpine hut at approximately 5.31 kilometers into the hike. This is a great spot to take a break, refuel, and enjoy the stunning alpine surroundings. As you continue onwards, you will encounter the beautiful Fundussee lake at around 3.89 kilometers from the start, providing a scenic rest stop along the way.
Further along the trail, at 3.48 kilometers from the start, you will find the Hintere Fundusalm restaurant and alpine hut, offering a cozy spot to grab a meal before continuing your ascent. Additionally, there are water sources such as the Wasserbecken at the beginning of the trail and another water source at 3.64 kilometers from the start to refill your supplies.
Midway through the hike, at 7.95 kilometers from the start, you will reach Feilerscharte, a saddle point that offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. This is a great vantage point to pause and take in the natural beauty of the area.
As you approach the highlight of the hike, the Fundusfeiler peak at 8.26 kilometers from the start, you will be rewarded with breathtaking views from the summit. Take your time to soak in the scenery before retracing your steps back to the trailhead.
