This challenging hiking route will take you to the beautiful Montagne de Bange area. The trail is an out-and-back type, with a total distance of 6.958 kilometers and an elevation gain of 673 meters, making it a difficult hike that will take approximately 3 hours and 17 minutes to complete.
As you start your journey, you will come across the Parking des Combes, situated right at the beginning of the trail. Approximately 1.41 kilometers into the hike, you will find the Refuge Pierre Bouvard, a shelter where you can take a break and enjoy the surroundings. Along the way, you will also encounter several natural springs such as "Les Daudes" and "Vers les Sources", providing you with opportunities to replenish your water supply.
Around midway through the trail, at 2.37 kilometers in, there is a viewpoint overlooking the stunning Lac du Bourget. Although slightly off the main trail, be sure to visit this point of interest for a breathtaking view of the lake.
As you continue your hike, you will reach the Col de la Cochette, located approximately 2.74 kilometers from the start. Here, you may find information about the area at the Col de la Cochette information point. Nearby, you can also explore the Petite Grange de la Cochette and Abri des Granges du Col de la Cochette shelters.
Towards the end of the trail, at 3.48 kilometers in, you will reach the peak of Montagne de Bange, offering remarkable panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Additionally, make a stop at Fontaines Froides for a refreshing break before heading back.
