This extremely difficult 17.061-kilometer circular hiking route, known as Traccia per il Pizzo del Becco, offers a challenging adventure for experienced hikers. The trail starts at the parking area, where you can find some useful information before embarking on your journey.
As you make your way along the trail, you will come across various points of interest. About 0.75 kilometers into the hike, you will find a restaurant called Il Bivacco, where you can refuel and take a break. Further along, at around 4.77 kilometers from the starting point, you will encounter Lago dei Frati, a picturesque water body perfect for a peaceful rest stop.
Around the 6.46-kilometer mark, you will reach Passo d'Aviasco orientale, a saddle point that offers stunning views (note that it's slightly off the trail). Continuing on, at about 7.87 kilometers from the start, you will pass by Passo di Sardegnana, another saddle point along the route.
For those in need of a water refill, drinking water sources can be found at various points along the trail, such as around the 0.75-kilometer mark and at approximately 0.75 kilometers into the hike. Additionally, there are picnic sites and more drinking water sources located at 0.41 kilometers and 0.75 kilometers from the start, respectively.
It's essential to come prepared with an adequate water supply, snacks, proper hiking gear, and to check the weather forecast before setting off on this challenging hike. With an elevation gain of 1353 meters and a duration of approximately 7 hours and 20 minutes, this trail is not for the faint of heart.
