This extremely difficult hiking route will take you on an out-and-back journey to Sasseneire, a peak in a stunning area with a distance of 12.711 kilometers and an elevation gain of 967 meters. The hike is expected to take around 5 hours and 21 minutes to complete, so be prepared for a challenging adventure.
Starting at the trailhead, you will pass by the parking area at the beginning of the route. Make sure to bring enough water and snacks for the journey as the trail will lead you through some breathtaking landscapes. Around 3.86 kilometers from the start, you will come across Lac des Autannes, a beautiful water feature where you can take a moment to rest and enjoy the scenery.
As you continue on, at about 2.42 kilometers from the start, you will reach Alpage de Torrent, a picturesque alpine meadow. Take in the fresh mountain air and keep an eye out for local wildlife along the way. About 5.12 kilometers into the hike, you will reach Col de Torrent, a prominent saddle offering stunning panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.
Midway through the hike, you will encounter Barrage de Moiry, a dam that adds to the beauty of the landscape. Take some time to appreciate the engineering marvel and maybe even snap some photos. At around 6.36 kilometers from the start, you will find Sasseneire, the final destination of the hike. Enjoy the sense of accomplishment as you take in the breathtaking views from the peak.
