Located in a beautiful area, this hiking route is a super easy and beginner-friendly trail. The route is an out-and-back type, leading to the Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool. Along the way, hikers will encounter various points of interest.
Starting off, hikers will pass by the East Lot parking area. As you continue on the trail, you will come across the William Shakespeare Monument at around 0.23 kilometers from the start. Further along, at 0.28 kilometers, you will find the Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool, the destination of this route.
Throughout the hike, there are several water features and attractions to see, such as the African Penguin exhibit, Giraffe and Plains Zebra area, Polar Bears enclosure, and the Red River Hog exhibit. Additionally, there are shelters and viewpoints strategically placed along the trail for a comfortable and scenic experience.
For those interested in art, there are various artworks to admire along the trail, including the Curve XXII (I Will) sculpture, Steel Roots, and the Memorial to Extinct Birds installation.
