Welcome to the hiking route to Pico Taunay in Tijuca National Park. This moderate 6.128-kilometer out-and-back trail will lead you through the lush greenery of the park, offering stunning views and a variety of points of interest along the way.

Starting at the trailhead, you will first come across a bicycle parking area followed by a drinking water stop, perfect for refilling your water bottle before the ascent. About 0.73 kilometers into the hike, you'll reach the Pico Taunay peak, where you can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

Continuing on, you'll encounter the Pico Escragnolle peak at 2.72 kilometers, offering another vantage point to take in the natural beauty of the park. As you approach the midway point, there is an information point providing insights into the flora and fauna of the area.

For those interested in history, the trail passes by the Ruínas do Midosi at 0.02 kilometers from the start, showcasing ancient ruins steeped in stories of the past. Further along, the trail leads to the Cachoeira das Almas waterfall at 0.27 kilometers, a perfect spot to rest and enjoy the peaceful sound of cascading water.

As you trek back towards the trailhead, you'll also pass by the Restaurante A Floresta, offering a chance to refuel with a delicious meal after your adventure. Throughout the hike, keep an eye out for the Largo do Bom Retiro, a charming attraction located 0.73 kilometers from the start.

With an elevation gain of 323 meters, this hike offers a moderate challenge suitable for hikers with some experience.
