The Roßstein hiking route is located in a picturesque area with stunning natural beauty. This challenging out-and-back trail covers a distance of 9.048 kilometers with an elevation gain of 846 meters, making it a difficult hike that is perfect for experienced hikers looking for a strenuous adventure.

As you start your journey, you will come across the Bayerwald parking area, where you can leave your vehicle before embarking on the trail. Along the way, you will encounter several points of interest such as the Buchstein peak, the Sonnberg Alm restaurant, the Roßsteinnadel climbing area, and the Roßstein Südwand and Roßstein Südwestwand climbing spots.

Midway through the hike, you will reach the Tegernseer Hütte alpine hut and restaurant, where you can take a break and enjoy a meal while taking in the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.

Towards the end of the trail, you will reach the Roßstein peak, a rewarding destination that offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. As you make your way back, be sure to stop at the various information points, benches, and the beautiful Sonnberg waterfall to rest and refuel.
