Located in the stunning Albigna Valley, this extremely difficult 18 km hiking route will challenge even the most experienced hikers. With an elevation gain of 1440 meters, this trail will take approximately 7 hours and 46 minutes to complete.
Starting at Capanna Albigna, hikers will pass by the beautiful Lägh da l'Albigna about 6.9 km into the hike. This picturesque alpine lake offers a peaceful spot to rest and take in the surrounding natural beauty.
As you continue on, you will come across the Diga Albigna, a dam located 6.45 km from the start of the trail. This impressive structure is worth a visit for its engineering marvel and scenic views.
For those looking for a challenge, the Boulderpark Albigna, located at the 8.07 km mark, offers a unique climbing experience amidst the rugged landscape.
Midway through the hike, at around 8.11 km, you will find Capanna da l'Albigna CAS, an alpine hut where you can refuel and rest before continuing on your journey.
Towards the end of the trail, at 8.74 km, you will have the opportunity to venture off the path and conquer the peak of Piz dal Päl for a rewarding panoramic view of the valley.
Throughout the hike, there are several water sources along the trail to refill your supplies. However, it is recommended to bring an ample amount of water and snacks, as this is a strenuous and long hike.
Before embarking on this challenging adventure, make sure to check the weather forecast and pack accordingly. This out-and-back route is not for the faint of heart, but the breathtaking views and sense of accomplishment will make it all worth it in the end.
