The Sentier du Cade hiking route is a challenging 8.268-kilometer out-and-back trail with an elevation gain of 483 meters. The route is estimated to take around 3 hours and 7 minutes to complete.
Located in a beautiful natural area, the trail offers a variety of points of interest to explore along the way.
At the beginning of the trail, hikers will find the Camping Saint-Lambert, a campsite with wheelchair accessibility that is open from May to September. As you continue on the trail, you will come across a parking area, making it convenient for hikers to leave their vehicles before starting the hike.
Approximately 4.13 kilometers into the hike, you'll reach a viewpoint where you can take in stunning panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. This makes for a great spot to rest and refuel before continuing on your journey.
Further along the trail, at around 2.51 kilometers from the start, you'll find the Tour ruinée de Pépissou, historic ruins that add an interesting cultural element to the hike.
For sustenance, there is a fast food establishment located close to the trail, perfect for grabbing a quick bite to eat. Additionally, there is a drinking water point around 1.37 kilometers from the start, ensuring hikers stay hydrated throughout their journey.
Towards the end of the hike, at approximately 3.33 kilometers from the start, you'll come across the Baume cave entrance, providing a unique opportunity to explore a natural cave formation.
Due to the length and elevation gain of the trail, hikers are advised to come prepared with plenty of water, snacks, and proper hiking gear. It is also recommended to check the weather forecast before embarking on the hike to ensure a safe and enjoyable outdoor experience.
