This hiking route takes you through a picturesque area with historic city walls and attractions in the town. The route is circular, covering a distance of approximately 1.142 kilometers with an elevation gain of 72 meters, making it a super easy hike suitable for all skill levels.
As you start your walk, you will come across the Escarpenmauer Werk XI, a historic city wall that is 0.28 kilometers from the beginning of the trail. Moving further along, at a distance of 0.49 kilometers, you will find the Kienlesbergbastion (Werk X), an interesting attraction worth exploring.
Throughout the hike, you will encounter various benches for resting, and information points like Festungsweg to learn more about the area's history. Don't forget to bring water and snacks as there are limited facilities along the trail.
At 0.56 kilometers, you will reach the Wilhelmsburg (Werk XII), a castle with limited wheelchair access, adding to the historical charm of the route. The König-Wilhelm-Turm viewpoint is located 0.49 kilometers from the start, offering stunning panoramic views of the surroundings.
As you make your way back, you can stop at the ehem. Löschwasserbecken der BW, a former firewater basin located at the end of the trail.
