This hiking route takes you through the beautiful Rhönwald area, known for its stunning natural scenery. The trail is relatively easy, with a total distance of 3.333 kilometers and no significant elevation gain.
As you start your hike, you will come across the Rhönwald parking area. This is a convenient place to leave your vehicle before beginning your adventure. Further along the trail, about 0.32 kilometers from the start, you will encounter a picturesque water feature.
Continuing onwards, at approximately 1.39 kilometers from the beginning, you will reach the Gerstenstein peak, offering spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. About 1.62 kilometers into the hike, you will pass by the Billstein peak, another great spot to take in the scenery.
One of the highlights of the route is the Aussichtsplattform Basalt Steinbruch viewpoint, located at around 1.67 kilometers from the starting point. This observation platform provides a stunning vantage point to admire the rocky cliffs and lush greenery of the area.
Throughout the hike, you will also come across the Rhönwaldloipe information point, located about 0.1 kilometers from the beginning, providing valuable insights into the local flora, fauna, and geology.
As this is an out-and-back route, you will retrace your steps on the way back to the starting point.
