The hike to Kugelhorn is an extremely difficult but rewarding 12.989-kilometer out-and-back route with an elevation gain of 916 meters, taking an estimated duration of 5 hours and 17 minutes. The trail offers stunning views and a chance to explore the natural beauty of the area.

Starting at the trailhead, you will pass by the beautiful Vilsalpsee, a serene lake located right at the beginning of the hike. As you continue on the trail, you will come across Fischerstube, a restaurant perfect for a quick break or meal just 0.05 kilometers from the start.

Further along the route, at 1.86 kilometers from the start, you will find Vilsalpe, a restaurant and alpine hut, offering a chance to rest and refuel before continuing on the challenging trek.

Midway through the hike, at 6.49 kilometers from the start, you will encounter the impressive rock formation of Hintere Schafswanne, a natural wonder worth exploring.

As you near the end of the trail, you will pass by Kugelhorn, a peak offering panoramic views of the surrounding area. This is a great spot to take in the scenery and snap some photos before turning back.

Throughout the hike, you will come across various benches for resting and enjoying the surroundings.
