This challenging circular hiking route will take you through the stunning alpine landscapes of the Pointe de Venise / Punta Venezia area. The trail covers a distance of 7.844 kilometers with an elevation gain of 1025 meters, making it a difficult trek suitable for experienced hikers.
You will start your journey at the Rifugio Albergo Alpino "Pian del Re" alpine hut, located right at the beginning of the trail. As you make your way along the path, you'll come across the Rifugio Vitale Giacoletti hut, which offers a cozy resting spot about 2.62 kilometers into the hike.
Along the route, you'll also encounter the Sorgente del Po spring, where you can replenish your water supply. The trail will lead you past historical ruins and informational points of interest, providing insight into the area's geology and history.
As you continue your ascent, you'll reach the Pointe d'Udine / Punta Udine peak at around 2.75 kilometers into the hike, offering stunning panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Further along, you'll come across the Col du Couloir du Porc / Colle del Coulour del Porco saddle, a picturesque spot for a rest.
At the 3.5-kilometer mark, you'll reach the Bivacco di punta Venezia shelter, a great place to take a break before continuing your journey towards the Pointe de Venise / Punta Venezia peak. This final stretch of the hike offers breathtaking views and a sense of accomplishment as you reach the summit.
