Hiking : Refuge d'Espingo

This challenging 11.7 km out-and-back hiking route will take you to the beautiful area surrounding Refuge d'Espingo. The trail features an elevation gain of 820 meters and is estimated to take around 4 hours and 45 minutes to complete.

Starting at Granges d‘Astau, you will begin your journey with a visit to Auberge d‘Astau, a cozy cafe just 20 meters from the trailhead. As you make your way up the trail, you will pass by the picturesque Pic de la Cascade, offering stunning views of the surrounding peaks.

Midway through the hike, you will reach Col d'Espingo, a scenic saddle point that marks the halfway point of your journey. Here, you can take a break and admire the panoramic vistas before continuing on towards Refuge d'Espingo.

After approximately 5.9 km of hiking, you will arrive at Refuge d'Espingo, a rustic alpine hut where you can rest and refuel before starting your return journey. Along the way back, be sure to stop by Refuge du Lac d'Oô, another charming alpine hut located 3.1 km from the trailhead.
